Army Men: Air Attack (Nintendo 64)

The N64's only decent Army Men title

The Good
Every Army Men game on the N64 so far hasn't really worked at all, so to have in my book the 'best' Army Men series more then makes up for the mistakes. What we have here is a slightly updated version of the PSX/PC Air Attack title, and everything I reviewed for the PSX title can be said here.

Of course there are a few improvements. 3DO has taken into account the greater graphics capability of the system, and has improved the frame rate a tad as well as adding some neat multiplayer elements, one of the major problems with the earlier titles in the 'Air' series.

The Bad
I found that most of the levels are basically the same as the PSX, so the lastability factor took a major knockback. But with that out of the way, N64 gamers can now say they have the best Army Men title on any system, period (or at least until the next sequel comes along).

The Bottom Line
Improvements to multiplayer helps to tip my rating higher then the PSX/PC second version. Though anyone who has played Air Attack may shy away from this as most of the levels are repeats with a few minor changes.

3DO should really look to this series as the flag ship Army Men title. I mean really, how much more can you do with an Army battle after 10 games? At least this series adds a little more variety.
