Xi You Ji

The Good
Like all other Panda games, this one is too an arcade style game developed only for PC. Back then, I could not afford a game console, so these PC games really made our day. West adventure follows the ancient Chinese story of three friends' journey to the near west (I actually have a Chinese opera on VHS based on this story). The player can choose from the following three: The Monkey king, the Pig, the Sand friend ( I really don't know how to translate his name ).

The game itself is a classic, arcade style brawl game, just like Golden Axe, or Streets of Rage. You have to fight your way through dozens of enemies, until you reach the final goal. Which I had never seen, because I've always got myself killed in the boss castle.

The graphics are the best possible at it's time for the PC, the gameplay is quite varied (you got to kill many, different kinds on foes), the sound is acceptable.

If you like this side scrolling, brawl genre, and if you were raised beside a PC, you will love this game.

The Bad
Well it is still just an old PC game. If you got used to arcade machines, or home game consoles of its time, you might find this game outdated and blocky.

The Bottom Line
All-in-all a very good game in my opinion, one of the few decent games that tried to make the PC a good gaming platform.
