Following the trend of the Xuanyuan Jian series, this game is another side story that uses the engine from its immediate predecessor in the main series, in this case Xuanyuan Jian 5. The game is played as a traditional Eastern role-playing game using primarily the mouse and keyboard as shortcuts. Elements from previous Xuanyuan Jian games are present, such as the monster-item merging system and an updated variant of the semi-turn-based battle system.

Xianjian Qixia Zhuan 4 is a traditional Eastern RPG, which requires the use of a mouse. A keyboard is also necessary for shortcut options. The basic gameplay system is very similar to the one used in the third game, displaying a bar showing the turns of the participants in the turn-based battles, and learning magic of five different elemental disciplines. Some of the gameplay aspects have been simplified (for example, magic no longer has levels and casting time). Character-related puzzles have been replaced by field abilities which deplete the "qi" energy of a character - for example, Yun Tianhe can set traps in front of approaching monsters.
Gyakuten Saiban is an adventure game where the player takes on the role of Ryuuichi Naruhodou, a rookie lawyer fresh out of law school. The game features four cases where the player must help Ryuuichi, as the defense attorney, clear the name of falsely accused defendants and prove the guilt of the real culprit. During the trials, the player must carefully listen to the witnesses' testimonies. He can then analyze the testimony, sentence by sentence, and "press" the witness for more information, or present to the court a piece of evidence that proves the witness's claim to be false. As lies and inaccuracies are exposed, the witness typically keeps changing their testimony until finally the truth comes to light. However, presenting wrong evidence or otherwise making errors will cause the judge to penalize you, and if you've accumulated too many penalties, he will lose his patience and declare a guilty verdict immediately.
Before and in between the trials, the player usually needs to take part in an adventure game-styled section where they conduct an investigation, travelling between various locations, interrogating people and searching rooms in hopes of finding evidence or learning some clues for the upcoming court session. There are four cases in total.
Shachō Eiyūden: The Eagle-Shooting Heroes is based upon the popular Chinese Wuxia novel written by Louis Cha (better known by his pen name Jin Yong). The novel, Shediao Yingxiong Zhuan (The Eagle Shooting Heroes/The Legend of Condor Heroes) is about the adventure of a young boy, Guo Jing. He travels through China in the Song Dynasty to avenge his father's death, and gets entangled in the battles of the Five Greats and the schemes of Jin Dynasty's invasion. He will have to find himself to protect his loved ones.
The gameplay is standard Japanese-style RPG fare, with various characters to meet, and dungeons to explore. The game features FMV cutscenes and voice-acting. The battle system is unique in that there are three types of martial art skills: Qing Gong (lightness), Nei Gong (inner), and Wai Gong (physical). The three types are similar in nature to "rock, paper, scissors," each with one weakness and one invulnerability to the other two.
The game starts with the protagonist entering the bustling town of Luo Yang, looking for the giant statue of the hero who defeated the "Ten Strongest Men" a hundred years ago. The protagonist meets with Guyue Xuan, who quickly befriends him. However, the hero soon becomes a victim in a power struggle of the Xiaoyao Valley, where Guyue Xuan studies martial arts. Later on, the hero gets accepted to be a student of the Xiaoyao Valley, and study various skills to explore the vast land of China.
