Added description to Shining Force · June 26, 2002

In a wondrous land perhaps not so far from our world, a strange and terrible series of events took place. The powers of darkness, led by Dark Dragon, fought for control of the world of Rune. Legendary warriors of light fought them with the ancient and modern weapons of the time, and drove Dark Dragon into another dimension. But Dark Dragon vowed that in a thousand years he would be able to break through the inter-dimensional barrier, back into this world.

A thousand years of peace and tranquility passed. The people of the world were happy to live their lives in contentment, able to spend time rediscovering the magical and technological wonders destroyed by Dark Dragon and using them to benefit all people. But the kingdom of Runefaust has begun a massive attack of the kingdoms of Rune - intending to help Dark Dragon return to this world. A small band of warriors has been sent out on a dangerous journey to fight against the dark forces of Runefaust.

Shining Force is a tactical role-playing game. As the player character makes his way through the lands of Rune, he is joined by other warriors who wish to stop the forces of Runefaust. Each warrior has their own strengths and weaknesses. As the player progresses through the game the characters gain new weapons and spells.

Added description to Balloon Challenge · August 8, 2001

This game is very similar to Boloball, another Soleau Software puzzle game. The objective of Balloon Challenge is to get your 25 colored balloons as high as you can on the game board. The higher the balloon goes, the higher the points awarded. The player with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner.

There are many items to help or hinder your balloon from traveling higher. Dark clouds stop your balloon from going any higher. Hurricanes move your balloon to a different hurricane on the board. Airplanes destroy your balloon. Directional clouds move the balloon in the direction the arrow is facing.

Added description to Deadly Rooms of Death · July 24, 2001

Deadly Rooms of Death is a puzzler. The idea is simple: you control a man with a sword that can point in 8 directions. On any turn you can either move the man or rotate the sword. You have as long as you want to plan each action, but it had better be good... your enemies move when you do! This puzzler has many kinds of enemies, and you will need to understand each one's personality intimately to even dream of making it to the final battle with the 'Neather.

Deadly Rooms of Death features countless brilliantly designed, extremely challenging puzzles. As a bonus, there's the visceral pleasure of slashing through whole armies of evil creatures singlehandedly.

Added description to Tower of the Sorcerer · July 24, 2001

A brave man is trying to save a princess caught in the tower. However, the Magic Sergeant Zeno stands on his way and will try to stop the hero, pursuing his own agenda.

Tower of the Sorcerer is a cross between a puzzle game and an RPG. To save the princess the protagonist must go up the floors. He fights the bad guys and gets keys to open doors. The hero has a health meter and it is possible to acquire items to increase defensive power, offensive power, and health. The levels are not randomly generated.

Added description to BogOut · July 19, 2001

BogOut is a game based on the classic board game Boggle. Random letters are placed on a 5X5 or 4X4 grid and you try to get as many words as possible in the time allotted. Words must be at least 4 letters long and the longer your word is the more points you get for it. When the time is up you are shown all the words that were possible and how many points you got.

You can play on a 4X4 or 5X5 grid, and you can add or delete words from their dictionary. One of the coolest features off BogOut is the multiplayer mode. By pressing restart game after you finish one round you can compare scores with friends and family.

Added description to Alien Breed: Tower Assault · June 2, 2001

A scientific outpost on a far-off planet has been attacked. Nothing is known about the attackers since all communications have been destroyed. A team of marines is dispatched to investigate and destroy the unknown invaders. As their dropships enter the atmosphere and approach the base, the defense lasers, damaged in the onslaught, move into action. They launch wild bursts of laser fire at the approaching marines, who are not prepared and take heavy losses. Rookies Nash and Jordan crash-land and must fight off the alien force.

As with the previous Alien Breed, the gameplay is viewed from above. Your soldier shoots his way through the levels, collecting keys, ammunition, and credits along the way. Computers can be logged into to buy new weapons. A new 'retreat' mode allows you to fire while moving backward.

The game is largely non-linear, as most levels have multiple exits, and the game can be moved through in different ways. There is a variety of indoor and outdoor levels, although you spend most time inside some of the multi-level towers. After activating a self-destruct mechanism, you must escape the building quickly.

Added description to Alien Breed · June 2, 2001

Alien Breed is a top-down science fiction shooter somewhat inspired by the movie Aliens in terms of plot and atmosphere. Gameplay, though, was obviously inspired by the Atari arcade classic Gauntlet. The game tells a typical sci-fi story of an alien invasion on the space station ISRC-4. Two space marines, Johnson and Stone, are the only human beings left to clear the base of aliens divided into six levels.

Moving around an alien-infested complex in a top-down view, you must at all times keep an eye not only on your energy level but also be conservative with ammunition. Though you will find new ammo cartridges strewn around the levels, they are consumed quickly by respawning aliens that may come crawling out of the floors and walls when you least expect it. On the floors, you will also find keys for passing through locked doors. Keys must also be used with care, or you may find yourself locked out of a room containing the remaining keys that you will need in order to complete the level. Other doors are one-way and will electrocute you if you try to pass it in the other direction.

Other major bonuses found on the floor are emergency kits for restoring your health, and credits. The credits come in handy when you find an Infotex terminal. There, you can access information about your current mission and your vital statistics, as well as buy supplies such as ammunition, weapons, and keys.

Music is forfeited in this game, in favour of the ambient sound of machinery, machine guns, and aliens running around the base.

Added description to Alien Breed · June 2, 2001

The PC version of Alien Breed is an enhanced version of the Amiga's Alien Breed: Special Edition 92. It includes all 12 of that game's levels and intersperses them with half a dozen all-new stages.

Added description to Bloody Roar II · May 29, 2001

Bloody Roar II is a 3D fighting game of the Tekken, or more accurately, Fighting Vipers school of gameplay. The hook of the Bloody Roar series is that your combatants can transform into animalistic versions of themselves -- human-animal hybrids with a thirst for violence. During each round you can fight as a person or transform into a beast when your meter fills up. As an animal you'll have more moves at your disposal with which to destroy your opponent.

Added description to Bomberman Fantasy Race · May 29, 2001

The man with the big bombs is blowing up a completely different type of game in this strange and whimsical racing game. It sure isn't like your typical racer -- Bomberman Fantasy Race has players riding on big loping kangaroos and giant blue rabbitty-dinos as they hop and dash to the finish line with long, bounding gaits. It's a wild race, made even wilder with all the bombs and action of Bomberman. Two can challenge each other to a blast around the track, or run for it on your own in the single-player mode. Buy new bombs and better ride-a-long animals to give the competition something to blow its top over!

Terrorists have grown powerful in the world and it is up to you to restore stability and peace throughout the lands. Added description to NFL Quarterback Club 97 · May 27, 2001

NFL Quarterback Club 97 utilizes many of the same gameplay elements seen in Madden NFL 97 - including the kicking T-meter, the three-quarter overhead primary camera angle, and the button assignments and controls. Player animations are fluid and realistic, and the player sprites have clearly visible jersey numbers and names.

The game also boasts a historic simulation mode. Players can choose among 50 different classic NFL game situations and try to rewrite history. Imagine...it's December 23, 1973. The Dallas Cowboys are down 28-13 to the 49ers. With under a minute remaining, the Boys score a touchdown and recover an onside kick. Can you complete one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history?

Added description to Rampage 2: Universal Tour · May 27, 2001

While technology may improve graphics and sound, some things never change. Rampage 2: Universal Tour is very much in tune with its history, barely deviating from the original city-stomping arcade game appearing in the 1980s. Like its predecessor, Rampage World Tour, Rampage 2 retains the original 2D worlds, but improves the graphics, completely re-rendering the characters. The premise remains the same: stomp out cities and wreck things in general. Some new features in Rampage 2 include four new characters (in addition to the original three), new attacks and combos, a power meter, and bonus rounds. Up to three people can play at once and there are plenty of new cities to destroy.

Added description to San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing · May 26, 2001

For the N64 version of the arcade hit, Midway added all-new courses and shortcuts. All six courses can be run in reverse, mirrored, or mirrored and reversed. There's even two hidden stunt courses! Graphically, the game sacrifices detail in favor of blindingly fast screen redraws.

The gameplay is very arcade-like: You fly through the air with the greatest of ease, and when you hit a wall your car bursts into flames. You can customize your car with different colors, racing stripes, tire rims and much more.

Added description to Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! · May 24, 2001

Like the original Spyro the Dragon, this is a platform-adventure game. Whilst using a portal to travel to the coast, he is enlisted to help a professor defeat Ripto the dinosaur.

The game is split into 3 worlds - on each of these Spyro must collect all the gems and then kill a boss. Level layouts are less linear and more expansive than many platform games, with lots of sub-quests - exploration is required.

This time around, the fantasy 3D worlds are larger and more complex. Though most of the gameplay elements from the original game have remained, more puzzle elements and bonus levels have been added to this chapter. Spyro has a new ground-pounding move.
