Shekhar Dhupelia's first entry into the game industry was spent working with the SCE-RT group of Sony (SCEA) in San Diego, asa Lead Engineer developing the online software and server infrastructure that powered the SOCOM: US Navy Seals series, as well as Frequency, Twisted Metal Black Online, NFL Gameday, and many other Playstation2 titles to this day. While working for Sony, he had the pleasure to work day-to-day with the minds at Zipper Studios in Seattle, Incog in Utah, and Harmonix in Boston (makers of Guitar Hero and Karaoke Revolution!). Shekhar followed this with a brief stint working on Microsoft's NBA Inside Drive 2004 XBox Live implementation, after which he went on to engineering for Midway Games on NBA Ballers for both PS2 and Xbox, in his hometown of Chicago. His next project was developing the Xbox Live features for THQ's WWE Wrestlemania franchise, with Studio Gigante in Chicago. Once Studio Gigante shut down, Shekhar returned to Midway Games, but now as a Producer and Development Director, shepherding the NBA Ballers: Phenom project through its development, submission and retail release. Shekhar remains with Midway Games in Chicago as a Producer on an unannounced next-gen title. Shekhar has previously spoken at the Game Developer's Conference (GDC) about online game design, several Penny Arcade Expos about getting into the game industry and game production, and has written for both the Game Programming Gems series and Secrets of the Game Business series. |
