Noritaka Funamizu (船水紀孝) first joined Capcom in 1985, working as a game designer on their arcade games such as Side Arms and 1943. He would eventually become the director of Capcom Production Studio 1. He was involved in the production and design of major franchises including Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Mega Man throughout the '90s and early 2000s, and also directed or produced a large number of other titles.

Funamizu left Capcom in early 2004 along with Katsuhiro Sudo to establish the development studio Crafts & Meister.
