Biography edit · view history

Mel Croucher is a software developer who founded the software company Automata which released several innovative games in the 1980s. Notable titles included Deus Ex Machina which featured an accompanying soundtrack tape which was intended to be played simultaneously whilst playing the game, and Pimania which offered a prize to be given out at a secret location, with a hint being provided on completing the game. This was eventually achieved by a player after the game had been on release for 3 years.

Many of Croucher's productions are now regarded as early multimedia products and he has been cited as an influence by modern developers, although he has stated that he does not personally see a lot of evidence that his games have affected their designs.
