Phillip began in 2005 as a quality assurance tester for Vivendi Games/Sierra Entertainment. Though uncredited, his first project was on the game adaptation of the movie Eragon. After Eragon shipped, Phillip was picked up to test on Caesar IV due to his extensive knowledge of PC requirements testing and familiarity with the franchise. Shortly thereafter, Phillip was selected to participate in testing for the Xbox360 port, FEAR Files, and then moved to the expansion, FEAR Perseus Mandate.

After leaving Vivendi Games in 2008, Phillip was hired on as a content developer at [then] EA Mythic Entertainment on their critically-acclaimed AAA MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning., where he garnered experience and skill as a content and system designer. In the post-launch development cycle of WAR, Phillip attained a limelight role as a game system designer, and championed WAR's crafting and economy initiatives.
