J. Guy Davidson, more generally known as Guy Davidson, is the Head of Engineering Practice at Creative Assembly. He first started game development in 1980 on an Acorn Atom, before moving onto Sinclair Machines, the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum, then the Atari ST and finally PC development. His first published title was Prince Naseem Boxing for Codemasters, before joining Creative Assembly in 1999. After working on their Rugby World Cup title, he moved to the Total War series, which he has worked on ever since.

Guy is a member of the C++ Standard Committee as well as the chair of the BSI IST/5 panel. He cofounded the #include diversity and inclusion group for C++ engineers and is a frequent speaker at C++ conferences around the world. He is a co-author of Beautiful C++, published by Pearson in 2021.

He lives in Brighton And Hove, UK, where he also sings for the Brighton Festival Chorus and teaches Tai Chi.
