Flywrench
- Flywrench (2015 on Windows, Macintosh, 2017 on PlayStation 4)
Description
In this fast-paced game, players control the space ship Flywrench number 6802. It is instructed to visit different planet gates in space and travel through them. The game relies on quick reflexes, timing and speed to control the flywrench through different abstract levels.
Movement is done through the arrow keys and this also changes the ship's colour. To pass obstacles, the flywrench usually needs to have the correct colour or it is destroyed and the level is restarted. The basic colour is white. When pressing up, the ship moves upwards but also becomes red, down has the opposite effect and provides the colour green. Each of the nine planets introduces new types of barriers and difficulties. These include time-based barriers, enemies, gravitation fields, rotating obstacles and more. The flywrench also cannot touch the levels' borders, unless in the green state, which causes the ship to bounce around. To finish a level, a white square needs to be reached.
The voyage to a new planet gate can also be considered a short game sequence, as there are sometimes obstacles in the way. In later updates of the game, a complete level and course design system was added.
