Treasure Trove Solitaire

Treasure Trove Solitaire is a shareware solitaire card game from AG Crump Software that also goes by the name of Osmosis Solitaire. It was released independently as a ‘taster’ game for their Solitaire Gold Pack, anyone registering Treasure Trove Solitaire received the full solitaire suite in return.

The object of the game is to end up with four piles of thirteen cards all of the same suit, order is unimportant.
Sixteen cards are dealt face down into four piles of four cards, the top card of each pile is turned face up. A seventeenth card is played into the game area, this is the foundation of the first suit. All other cards that are face up are moved to that pile in such a way that their rank remains visible. The value of the first card is doubly important because the piles for the other suits MUST begin with a card of that rank, so if the first pile started with the ten of clubs the piles for spades, hearts and diamonds cannot begin until the ten of that suit becomes available.

The other rule for this game is that cards can only be played to their relevant pile if the pile on the left contains a number of the same rank. To continue our example the first pile starts with the ten of clubs and the five and six are face up so they get moved to the same pile. Luckily the ten of hearts is also free so a pile of hearts can be started then we begin working through the pack. The seven of hearts is turned over. Even though the heart suit is being built the seven cannot be added to it because there’s no seven among the clubs that have currently been played.
