Gekitotsu Dangan Jidōsha Kessen: Battle Mobile
Description
One year ago they took your wife from you. Now it's time to pay them back, with interest.
Gekitotsu Dangan Jidōsha Kessen: Battle Mobile plays similarly to Spy Hunter in both perspective and objective, but your car in Battle Mobile isn't quite as high tech an instrument as that other game's vehicle. You can launch unlimited missiles, but they can only hit helicopters. For ground based targets you must dash into them to ram them off the road. Your car's health is constantly dwindling, even when you're not being attacked by enemies, so picking up the occasionally appearing energy refill items is essential. Shields can be picked up and stored that will make your car invulnerable to all damage for a short while.

Trivia
Road Avenger similarities
Gekitotsu Dangan Jidousha Kessen: Battle Mobile actually has a lot in common with the Data East FMV game Road Avenger. In both games the protagonist's wife is killed on their wedding day by a Mad Max/Fist of the North Star style vehicular gang, and in response the protagonist decides to fight back by turning his red sports car into a weapon. There's no mention of Data East or Road Avenger staff in the credits, however, so perhaps it is just an homage.
