One of the best of its genre on PSX

The Good
The overall fun factor in this one is something that lacks from many games today.

Although the graphics obviously are nothing to celebrate about by today's standards, the game is still fun to play and very magnetic indeed.

The weapons are a plenty and almost all of them come to good use. On top of that, there is also different PSI-powers one can use to annihilate enemies.

Levels are varied and very well designed and textured. One of the best things in this one is that all the cutscenes are acted by real actors and that is always a plus in my books. If you haven't experienced Disruptor yet, it's about time.

The Bad
Only a few different kinds of enemies. Props on cutscenes... A wooden warpbeamthing? Come on.

The Bottom Line
If you haven't tried this, it's about time.

Epic Sci-Fi Action

The Good
This game is just great! The gameplay is good, the graphics deliver, it sounds great. Let's go into some detail. The game plays like your typical early 90's first-person shooter. You shoot people, solve a few puzzles, collect power-ups, and find the end of the level. It all just works well here. Your weapons all feel good to use, and they are appropriately brutal. The in game models are pretty crisp and smooth. The environments are well rendered, though the draw distance can sometimes come in too close. The story is told through some pretty good live action cutscenes. The acting in these scenes is good, but not great. All of the sound effects made good use of the PlayStation's CD technology. The don't sound fuzzy at all. Like the graphics, they are smooth and crisp.

The Bad
This game doesn't really have that many bad qualities. Sometimes a level is a bit too hard, or long and winding, but you will soon forget about the bad and keep playing and having fun with it.

The Bottom Line
This game is good. Really good. This game is bound to be called a "Doom clone" by some, but at least it's a good one. For being developer Insomniac's first game, it's just damn good. I have nothing but respect for this game.

Trivia

Development

Disruptor was originally to be a launch title for the ill-fated 3DO M2. That version would have had about ten times as much polygons than the PlayStation port.
