Strawberry Shortcake: Amazing Cookie Party
Description
In this game - based on a character originally created for American Greetings in 1977 - Strawberry Shortcake and her friends are having a tea party at her house when someone suggests that the only thing that could make her party better is...cookies! Strawberry, accompanied by her talking cat Custard, makes her way to Cookie Corners and the Cookie machine, where she learns she needs to collect ingredients before making cookies. From Cookie Corners there are three locations where the player can perform tasks or activities in order to earn and collect ingredients; clicking on each of the arrows will take you there:
-
Rolling Oranges - Orange Blossom needs oranges to make juice for the party; the player must direct the specified number of oranges into a basket by using tools to modify their path as they roll along tree branches. Tools include a woodpecker that drills holes through the branch and marshmallows to cushion a drop and make the oranges bounce
-
Cakewalk - Angel Cake needs help building cake houses; the player assembles them using cake bases and decorations from a scroll, following directions about the minimum number of doors, windows, and decorations required
-
The River Fudge - As Strawberry floats down the river on a giant graham cracker the player maneuvers her raft with the mouse, collecting fish pops and magic berries and avoiding traps such as whirlpools and rock candy crystals
Once all the ingredients have been collected the player proceeds to the Amazing Cookie Machine, where he must deposit ingredients in the machine according to recipes. The quantities and assortment of items vary depending on the level selected. From the options screen, the player can adjust difficulty settings manually or select auto levels to allow the game to adjust automatically.
Clicking the strawberry on the bottom right brings up a control bar from which the player can choose to exit, change options, view how many and what type of cookies he has made, check the number of ingredients in Strawberry's backpack, or access a Help movie about the activity he is currently playing.
Strawberry Shortcake: Amazing Cookie Party is aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 6 and focuses on skills developed in pre-school and kindergarten - logical thinking, following directions, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, spatial reasoning and creative planning.
