James May's Motormania Car Quiz
Description
James May's Motormania Car Quiz is a single player DVD quiz about automobiles.
The game starts with the player selecting the kind of car they wish to play for from the following five categories; Super Cars, Sports Cars, Classic Cars, American Muscle Cars, and Racing Cars. The player chooses their preferred category of car and are awarded what James May considers to be the best car of that type then the quiz begins. There are thirty questions in each game and for every three incorrect answers supplied the player's car is taken away and replaced with a less desirable model, getting all questions wrong will result in the player finishing the game with a bicycle. For example the best Classic Car' is the Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante but getting three questions wrong sees it being replaced by the Ferrari 250 GTO with accompanying comments from the host James May, and so on. The object of the game is to finish the quiz with the most desirable car and not the bicycle.
The types of questions asked range from cars used in films/adverts, identify this headlight, people associated with Formula One and, while American cars feature prominently, they have a UK bias.
All questions are read by cheery James May who occupies a small on-screen window. When he has finished speaking the text version of the question appears. The questions are not related to the class of car the player selected at the start of the game. All questions are multiple choice and the player selects A, B, or C using the controls of their DVD remote, the correct answers are not revealed.
