Heavy Metal Thunder
- Heavy Metal Thunder (2014 on iPhone, iPad, Android)
Description
In the year 2980 CE, recent breakthroughs in robotics technology have brought a surge in the popularity of robots, called the Heavy Metal Revolution. "Robot Wrestling", fights between superpowered miniature robots, only about 30cm tall, have become the most popular sport all over the world. Denki Akihabara, a student at Hagane-cho Middle School, has just heard from his father for the first time in ten years on his 15th birthday. Unfortunately for Denki, his father has gone and entered him into the world's most prestigious Robot Wrestling tournament with a brand new high-spec robot. Denki must now give everything he has to win the tournament and become stronger, prove himself to the girl he loves, and finally show up his father.
Heavy Metal Thunder is a turn-based robot fighting simulation game. On each turn, each player selects a command for their robot, which will counteract each other similar to a match of Rock, Paper, Scissors. However, making things more interesting, certain combinations will build the robots' heat and synchro gauges. The higher the heat gauge is, the stronger that robot's attack, but if it fills completely, it becomes unable to attack. The synchro gauge, on the other hand, will allow for different special attacks depending on what level it reaches. The goal of each round is to knock out the other player's robot.
Between battles, the player can visit a shop to purchase and upgrade parts for their robot. Apart from the main story mode, there is also a straight ranking battle mode where the player must defeat multiple opponents in succession, as well as a versus battle mode where two players can pit their robots against each other. However, neither mode becomes available until the story mode is completed.
