Description

Based on the award-winning TV series, The Adventures of Batman and Robin pits the player against the diabolical Mr. Freeze who wants to freeze Gotham with a huge ice cannon and his hired help of other Gotham super villains: The Joker, Mad Hatter, and Two-Face. The player can take the role of either Batman or Robin but this choice doesn't make a difference regarding gameplay.

This is a side-scrolling action game. The player basically walks from left to right while fighting numerous foes in hand-to-hand combat. Weapons which are found during the levels are used to shoot enemies from a greater distance. These weapons can also be upgraded by picking up the corresponding symbols.

There are overall four areas (one for each villain) with three levels each, including a film studio or the Gotham University. While most stages are typical fighting levels with occasional 3D effects there are also a few flying ones where the player uses the Batwing or a jet pack.

One of the best genesis games

The Good
The game respect the history of the comic, the graphics are pretty good, the animation are exceptional and the musics are THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD on the genesis !! The bad guys are also well selected. A total success

The Bad
The game is VERY difficult. It can dishearten some players. But it's also a good thing, because the game lifetime is higher !!

The Bottom Line
the genesis gives all she have in her body with his game. Try to be strong by finishing this game who is one of the more difficult i've ever played on the genesis. Personally, with years of experience with his game, i've finished him without losing one live !! (just one time it's my record ^^)

Darkness Falls On Gotham City We All Know What That Means

The Good
Released, in 1995, towards the end of the 16-bit era. The Adventures of Batman and Robin, based on the cartoon series of the same name. This was one of the Genesis’s last games and one of it’s best!

The game begins with a beautiful opening scene. In which Mr. Freeze breaks out of Arkham Asylum. He also releases The Joker, Two-Face, and The Mad-Hatter. The Dark Knight is going to have a long night. The game consists of four stages with each villain as the final boss. Each stage as many levels. The Batman and Robin are both playable.

During the stages you take of tons of enemies with batarangs and fists. From the streets of Gotham to the skies. This is one action packed game. It is also one of the hardest games you are ever likely to play. It plays not unlike Contra, but Batman and Robin can take more damage than those guys.

Stages consist of tons of baddies, ending with a boss. The battles with the villains are always the most fun. With the exception of Two-Face who you fight in a helicopter. I guess he did not have the balls to face you in person.

The Graphics are as one would expect from a late Genesis game are amazing. The sprites are small but well detailed. The backgrounds have a quasi 3D effect. And look great. Lighting effects are also very good for a 16-bit game. The opening and ending cut scenes are incredible to look at. They look exactly like they were taken from the show.

The Sound and Music is tight. Unlike what certain websites claim, the music is great. It all has a house music feel to it. The sounds are convincing. Voice clips from the show would have been nice but it is only a 16-bit game.

The Bad
The game is hard. Probably, the hardest game you will ever play. I don’t mind a challenge but this is ridiculous. You will need cheat codes to beat this one.

The Bottom Line
This is one of the best games based on the Batman license. A must play for Batman fans.
