Beyond Atlantis
Description official descriptions
In this adventure game, take Ten, the Bearer of Light, through his journey to Shambhala to confront the Bearer of Dark so that balance can be returned to the Universe. To find Shambhala, he must gather the pieces that make up the "road to Shambhala" from different locations and time periods - China, Ireland and the Yucatan.
You begin aboard a ship in the mountains of Tibet, which acts as a home base. As the pieces are found and put in place, Ten is mystically transported to exotic locations and will become different characters. Each "chapter" can be played in any order since each is self-contained with its own puzzles, objects and people.
The game features a "point and click" interface, full 3D panning, puzzles of varied difficulty, conversations with other characters, and a fully-orchestrated musical score.

My opinion changed from beginning to end ... from good to great.
The Good
While playing Atlantis II (Beyond Atlantis), my opinion changed from beginning to end. Not from good to bad, but from good to great. I absolutely loved this game!
The storyline is captivating; puzzles are challenging and varied; music and graphics are excellent throughout. Few technical issues make this a truly enjoyable experience.
The Bad
I have very few bad things to say about Beyond Atlantis.
It is somewhat linear so if you've forgotten to pick up an essential item, there may be some backtracking involved.
There is a good bit of CD swapping between the 4 CD-Roms.
At times the 3D world made me dizzy whenever I'd move my mouse too quickly.
The Bottom Line
I highly recommend this game for beginning and experienced gamers alike. It is an excellent, non-violent, adventure game which I plan to play again.

Slow gameplay, barely adequate graphics, enjoyable new age soundtrack.
The Good
I would have to say that the only thing that impressed me about this game was the music.
The Bad
There were enough things I didn't like about this game that I did not finish it. There are so many high quality games out there, and only so many hours I am willing to invest in playing PC games, that I no longer have the patience for anything less than excellence. The graphics were about average. The time lag between click and response was too long for this simple of a game. The game crashed several times in the Ireland section. Some puzzles had insufficient clues which made them too difficult.
The Bottom Line
Beyond Atlantis is a descendant of Myst but is in no way up to that level of artistic, technological, or storytelling excellence. The graphical quality is poor. The story did not gain my interest and as a result, I did not care to invest my time in solving the puzzles.

Trivia
Packaging
For the initial CD-ROM release of this game, the European version shipped the 4 discs inside paper sleeves, while the later North American release enclosed them in a jewel case.
