Description

Agents of Storm is a free-to-play strategy and base management game set in the South Seas with a tropical environment. Similar to games like Clash of Clans the goal is to gather resources to construct and upgrade buildings, and acquire various units to conquer the surrounding environment. The player has an island base and there are two types of currencies that can be gathered by ships automatically once they are built: blue jade and gold. In addition there are diamonds as a premium currency, for instance to speed up construction or to skip waiting times. Jade and gold are stored in silos and vaults, respectively, and the player needs to keep up with the available capacity and return regularly to the game to spend the resources and expand again. Gold is most often used to start new missions. The player's base is in full 3D with zoom and rotation options. Many characters appear to offer missions and completing these provides rewards.

Typical naval units are for instance a speedboat, ironclad, minesweeper and a drone ship, but there are also planes. The currencies can be spent on research to improve the units' statistics. Once a fleet has been gathered, nearby enemy islands can be attacked. There are generally two phases (outer defenses and then the HQ attack) and at the start, the player has to divide the available forces over different paths. Missions often have a time limit and before starting a mission, the paths and enemy defenses can be examined to decide where to deploy which units. Once started, units attack by themselves, but the player can also tap to temporarily disrupt cannons. Often blue jade barrels can be tapped to gather them from pumps and the same currency is used to disrupt defense systems. The player's units receive damage and need to be repaired, again using the currency. Missions are generally done by following a path on an island map and up to three stars can be earned per mission.

By conquering islands, experience is earned that adds to a player level and with each new level new buildings and options are unlocked. Later on, a base extension can be acquired that is used to interact with friends on Facebook and send each other reinforcements. Even though there are some social features including leaderboards and an online connection is needed at all times, it does not incorporate multiplayer and largely focuses on progress through a single-player campaign to defeat the Chimera Corporation.
