Trivia

Development History

This game evolved from Planet X1, which was designed by the same author for the VIC-20 ten years earlier. The original goal was to bring the same game to the C64 but enhance it to better take advantage of the more capable platform. With time, it evolved into a full-fledged real-time strategy game.

The game was first revealed to the world at the Long Island Retro Gaming convention in August of 2017, and also at the Portland Retro Gaming Convention a short time later when The 8-Bit Guy gave presentations on this game to the audience.

Many features were cut from the game due to limited RAM available for code space. As the game evolved, it became obvious that there would not be enough space to have everything. Here are some things that were removed: -A smelter building to bring minerals to and have them processed. This was eventually added to the factory. -A research lab to develop new features. (Still shown on the box art, since it was removed late in the game) -Boats and flying units. -A living map that would allow fire to spread through trees, and grass that would grow back over burned areas
