World Empire IV
Description official description
World Empire IV is a strategy game that uses maps of real countries. Players start with either 56 or 30 armies. There are three game modes: local (includes TCP/IP Network); Cyberwar (Internet); or War on Terror. Multiple combinations of human and computer players are possible. Network game hosting requires the World Empire game server be installed on the network.
All games (except the Real World Simulation) start with all countries neutral or all conquered. In all modes, players can chose which countries to start in, or be randomly assigned. Each player adopts an ideology that determines if a country to be entered is friendly or unfriendly. Individual battle and attack outcomes are computer determined, based on a combination of ideology and random factors. Conquered 'unfriendlies' require more occupation armies to prevent a revolution from taking place.
War on Terror mode is only for local play. One human player opposes Osama Smith and the Axis of Evil (Saddam Jones, Kim Doe-il, and Shah Sayed) with a variety of player combinations. Computer players are illustrated with photos.
In Cyberwar mode, a chat window allows players to communicate before and during games. The Game host determines the number of players, country status, and whether to allow revolutions or air/sea invasions, or surrenders. Once a game has started, exiting human players can be replaced with computer players.
The object of local and Internet play to to take over all world countries by defeating opponents country by country. The object of the War of Terror mode is to root out all terrorist cells and secure the world.
