Dinosaur Dig Cyber Adventure

Description

Dinosaur Dig Cyber Adventure is an educational computer game for ages 7 and up on the topic of dinosaurs, part of the World Book reference line. The player is assigned to earn points to become certified as a Paleo-Pro. Once a section is complete, the points will be added.

In the Dig site, the player simulates a real dinosaur dig site by using the digging tools used by the scientists. Information about each of the uncovered fossils are narrated, and the player clicks on the “Map and Jacket” button to mark the location of the find (A dinosaur footprint is marked, and the fossil prepares for shipping). The player has to watch out for any disasters such as a herd of cattle or bad weather conditions, and the site protector button needs to be clicked on (to be precise in timing) to prevent the disaster from messing up the player’s work.

In the Articulation Station, the player has to put together a dinosaur by clicking on a bone from the pit, and clicking on the proper location on the framework. A visual identification will show where the bone should be placed. When the dinosaur is put together, the player can listen to what the dinosaur sounded like and see what the dinosaur actually looked like millions of years ago. The player can optionally view the information about the dinosaur’s skeleton up close with some facts.

In the workroom, the player can view artifacts that were used in exhibits from the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Clicking on an artifact in the workroom will show pictures and narration of the artifact after it has been selected by the player. The quiz lets the player test their knowledge about dinosaurs and fossils. The player can also view photographs of the dinosaur dig in Wyoming.

The last section shows the digging tool techniques in which the player can view video clips if available in some sections. Upon exiting the game, the player is rewarded with a Paleo-Pro certificate in which the player can print out, and can save his/her progress of the game to continue later.
