Real Soccer 2013
Description
Real Soccer 2013 is a yearly installment in Gameloft's football series and the follow-up to Real Football 2012. For the first time in the series the game uses the FIFPro license with the real names and portraits for over 3,000 players. Following the release it was updated for almost two years. It is also the first time a game in the series is released for the Windows Phone. This release focuses on a single game mode, next to practice matches, taking control of a single club. Players can choose a club from many European leagues such as England, France, Germany, Spain and others, usually for two divisions. For the rest of Europe another number of prominent clubs is included, as well clubs from Asia, America, Brazil and so on. While many club and player names are correct, not all of them are licensed and those use a different name. All clubs, even the top tier ones, start with the weakest of players.
After choosing the initial team the player can spend time on management as much as on playing matches. The game is free-to-play with a basic coins currency earned mainly through matches, along with a premium cash currency. The currencies can for instance be spent on transfers in three categories to attract new and great players. Individual players need to be healed when injured, they can rest to recover and many abilities can be trained to improve them. This is mainly done through the basic currency while the premium one skips the waiting times.
The club's position can be improved by investing into larger capacity stadiums for more revenue, gyms, hospitals, spas, tactics centres, club shops and so on. For many of these facilities the player can also hire doctors, trainers and coaches. Sponsors are also important to gather revenue. Additional elements can be unlocked by leveling up after gathering experience. Players are rated from one to five stars to determine their worth.
During matches the familiar control system is used with the virtual joystick on the left side of the screen for movement. While on the offense available virtual buttons on the right side of the screen are pass, shoot and spring, and while defending there is pressing, sprinting and tackling. The game supports a large amount of dribbles through flicks and drawing movements while in possession of the ball. The premium currency can be spent on boosters to increase the stats for players temporarily. Boosters include Hot Interceptors (midfield), Iron Wall (defending) and Tornado (attack). Restarting matches or halves also costs money. The game has advertisements.
