Tap Sports Baseball

Tap Sports Baseball is a mobile baseball game where the player only plays the batting part of the sports while the pitching is automatized. As implied by the title all the player has to do is tap the screen to make a swing and it is all down to timing and the stats of the batter whether it is going to be a good hit. At times options are given to use bunt or try to steal a base. Running is automatic but sometimes the game asks whether a runner should make an attempt or stay put.

Matches are played online against other players and they are asynchronous which means two players do not have to play the game at the same time. One player starts a match (either against a random opponent or a social media friend) and then gets to play one half inning against AI fielders and pitchers. Once completed the player has to wait for the opponent to play his half inning. The players then keep taking turns until all nine innings have been played. It is possible to take part in multiple matches at the same time. Players are divided into seven divisions with newcomers playing in the rookie division. After winning a certain number of matches players get the chance to play a playoff match which if won leads to progression to the next division.

Outside the field there are some managerial aspects to the game involving picking the team and getting new players. Players can be acquired in the store by spending the game's virtual currencies (gold and cash). There are three ways to do so: buying a draft pick which leads to a random player being signed, signing a specific free agent player or buying a franchise player. Franchise players have high ratings but are only available for a few matches. They require special coins which cost a fairly large amount of gold. There are also upgrades that can be bought and that improve the team's batting and pitching abilities.
