The Exterminator
- The Exterminator (1983 on PC Booter)
Description
In The Exterminator, a row of cookies is located on the left side of the screen while many bugs enter from the right side. The player controls a swatter and needs to kill the bugs before they reach the cookies. However, there are also many ladybugs in the crowd which must not be killed.
The most important result is the skill counter which rises with successful kills and instantly drops to zero when a bug reaches their goal or a ladybug is killed. Reaching a certain level of skill gives rewards, most prominently a limited access to bug spray for effective killing. Later additional advantages like more spray time or a faster turbo speed are unlocked. The goal is to make as many money as possible by killing the correct bugs. Making mistakes not only resets the skill level, but also lowers the health bar: when it is gone, the game is over

Trivia
Development
Originally the game's goal was to protect homegrown marijuana, but this was rejected during the XNA community evaluation process. Besides the optical changes, also two additional game modes had to be removed.
