Stellar Sweeper
Description
Stellar Sweeper is a Minesweeper variant. The player takes the role of Meep the Alien, an employee of the Martian Mining and Mineral Company searching for energy crystals throughout the universe. Since the crystals are unstable they explode if not properly handled.
As in typical Minesweeper games the screen is filled with squares hiding either an empty space, a number or a crystal. The player must click on them to reveal what's beneath. However, crystals explode if revealed and this expends one of Meep's Blast Shields. It's game over once the player loses all of them. In order to identify crystals without clicking on them it's important to use the numbered squares as a guide. The number shows how many crystals are adjacent to that particular square. The player can mark squares that may contain crystals and resume uncovering spaces around them until the crystals get revealed automatically. To the right, under Meep there is a Power Up Meter that fills as the player uncovers more squares. When it's partially full the Hint button can be used to show a safe square to click or one that holds a crystal. A full meter allows to player to scan a 3x3 group of spaces, revealing its contents as a result.
The player advances in rank by collecting crystals. Every rank is a new planet or a celestial body holding new puzzles that can be visited later. Stellar Sweeper has three levels of difficulty that change the number of starting Blast Shields and the availability of the Hint power up (it stays locked on Hard).
