6180 the moon is a puzzle platformer where you control the moon. The Sun is gone and the moon visits different planets and stars (Earth, Venus, Mercury, Sun) to find it back. There are five worlds in total with ten levels each. At certain moments the story is furthered through conversations in short sequences.
To complete a level you need to move to the right over platforms to reach an exit gate. The platform mechanics remind of VVVVVV. When the moon drops off a platform through the bottom of the screen it reappears at the top. This speed increase can be used as a slingshot mechanic to cross gaps or to dodge spikes. There is an amount of gravity however. The moon can jump fairly high an when it breaks through the top, it has enough speed to reappear through the bottom at largely the same height. This curve needs to be used as well to complete puzzles.
More complex levels are split up with checkpoints represented through white squares and there is an unlimited amount of allowed retries. Next to the platforms and the spikes, additional gameplay elements are introduced gradually. There are temporary blocks that can be used once to bounce and then disappear. Other blocks appear and disappear with a time interval. Small drops of light, left behind by the Sun, can be used once to perform a dodge jump in mid-air after an initial jump. After completing the main levels all of them can be replayed reversed, making a total of 100 levels. Controls are limited to three keys, to move left and right and jump, and the space bar to perform the dodge jump.

A novel idea executed quite well
The Good
The idea of a puzzle platformer which let's you drop from the top when your reach the bottom is very solid and it's executed very well. I did get frustrated from time to time. But the satisfaction when nailing a section is awesome. The game is presented with very simple graphics with mainly black and white. I find this simple but very clean aesthetic very pleasing. Furthermore the music is nothing short of enchanting.
The Bad
The story of the game tries to be clever but I must admit that I find it a tad too banal. Basically the moon goes on a hunt for the sun because the humans on earth wonder where it has gone... The worst part of it is that the text is presented so slowly that a lot of time in the story sequences (cut scenes feels like overselling them) is spent just waiting for the next sentence. You can skip the sections but sadly not just skip to next line once you have read the current one.
The Bottom Line
This is a puzzle platformer where you play the moon in search for the sun. The main mechanic of the game is that the world wraps around top to bottom. And you have to use this mechanic a lot. Along the way you will have to avoid spikes and you will also meet some squares that slingshot you away when you hit them, buttons that removes obstacles and platforms that fade in and out of existence. All things considered I found the level design very compelling but the story I found a bit annoying. This game is proof that looks can deceive. What at first glance can seem a bit too simple turned out due to awesome mechanics to actually hold up. The game has roughly 3 hours of playing time.

The game title references the 6,180 seconds (1 hour, 43 minutes) it took to create a prototype version of the game in 2012, at a game jam where Jerome Baek and Sun Park collaborated.
