The game is referenced in the 2016 movie Elle by Paul Verhoeven. The protagonist, Michèle Leblanc, heads a fictional French game development studio. It is referenced multiple times by name and through extracts that her company is behind the game Styx: Master of Shadows, which is a real game by a French studio.

Styx is not an entirely new character. He was previously introduced in the game Of Orcs and Men (2012) co-developed by the same studio. You can view him in the game here. Styx: Master of Shadows is set in the same universe of Of Orcs and Men and is set before the events of that game.
