A Valley without Wind
Description
A Valley Without Wind is set on the continent Environ which is overrun by monsters and their masters, the evil Overlords. The player takes the role of one of the glyphbearers which try to kill all overlords and free the land. Despite this goal, this game is more of a free-form experience: the world is randomly generated and endless.
The majority of time is spent with exploring the side-scrolling environment while collecting items for crafting purposes, e.g. upgrade orbs to improve the main stats like health or equipment which allow to use more abilities like a double jump. The most important factor is upgrading spells because those are used to dispatch of enemies: besides moving the character, the player has to move the cursor over an enemy and then unleash a magic attack. Overlords are enemies with more health and, after defeat, unlock more powerful spells. Those spells also have different elemental proficiencies and may be useless against certain creatures. Otherwise the player can collect building materials, e.g. in order to construct bridges, building cities for NPCs or solve quests like killing certain enemies or protecting crates from falling rocks.
After death, the player character is gone forever. However, the torch is instantly passed along to another glyphbearer who loses the statistical upgrades, but keeps permanent upgrades and equipment. The difficulty level can be separately changed for the three main aspects of the game (combat, platforming, city building) and co-op multiplayer has no official limitation for the number of players.
