RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile
Description official description
Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is the first adaptation of the long-running amusement park management simulation for mobile devices. The core concept is identical. The player starts with an empty amusement park that can be designed with roads, attractions (merry-go-rounds, Ferris wheels, coasters etc.), shops and food stalls to run a successful amusement park, by keeping track of the customers' satisfaction and re-arranging or upgrading the attractions. Altering the price of admission of the price of food and other attractions, managing staff or deeply personalizing or maintaining attractions is not possible, unlike the original games. Customer satisfaction has also been simplified thoroughly and is mainly based on the available attractions, rather than the positioning or variety that are much more important in the original simulations. Queuing for rides is still present.
The game is commercial and uses two types of currencies: a basic one (coins) and a premium one (tickets). Coins are used to buy attractions and both currencies can be acquired in-game in small amounts without additional in-app purchases. The game uses the common mechanic of collecting small amount of coins by regularly tapping certain attractions to collect revenue, such as the ice-cream stand. In the beginning only one attraction is available and further options are provided after leveling up. After buying an attraction it can be constructed anywhere in the park. It is also possible to rotate it, but the game screen itself cannot be rotated to view the park from another angle. There is also no way to toggle transparency to better manage the lay-outs. As a casual game meant to be played in short bursts construction takes time to complete, but the player can speed it up by spending the premium currency: tickets. Each attraction has its own rating based on the visitors' experience. They can also be sold afterwards and some of them can be upgraded for a higher excitement rating. The only further customization is usually colours, except for certain food stands where the type of food can be changed and players can for instance design a custom burger by selecting various condiments.
The marketplace offers resources (both coins and tickets in exchange for real money), coasters, attractions, hotels, constructions related to food and busines, decorations and special items in exchange for one of the two currencies. The overall satisfaction of the visitors is summarized as 'buzz' in a single percentage near the top of the screen and a maximum of 200 visitors can enter the park simultaneously. After the basic elements of the park are present, it needs to be given a name and it can then be opened. Just like the original games each individual visitor is visible, also riding the attractions, and icons above their heads show their satisfaction. Once the game is in progress different types of goals or missions are presented, usually in the form of building additional attractions.
Coasters are the main attraction of the amusement park and have a separate construction process. Players can design a custom track with separate on-screen buttons for left, right, straight on, up and down, and edit it afterwards. It can further be customized with specials such as a hoop and a helix and other types of add-ons. All custom coasters require the premium currency. There are also 20 pre-designed coasters included. Each game provides a unique code that can be used to add friends and exchange tickets.
