Australian version

Initially, the game was refused classification in Australia, despite an R18+ rating being introduced by their rating board not long before the game was released. Shortly thereafter, a modified version of the game was submitted and passed classification. The reason was the Psychosomatic mission (Shaundi's loyalty mission) which revolved around alien drugs, which was removed in the Australian edition. As it was required to receive the full ending in the standard edition, the completion counter was adapted to the change.

On digital stores, the game is distributed as a separate SKU, and is not compatible in multiplayer with international versions.

In response, Volition advertised Saints Row IV as "the game Australia doesn't want you to play" in pre-release trailers.

Saints Row IV has probably the most expensive limited edition ever released - the "The Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition (or the Million Dollar Pack)". The contents of this edition (as advertised by Deep Silver) include:

• A Years Super Car Membership

Apparently, only one unit of this edition was up for sale directly from Koch Media (owners of Deep Silver and Volition). According to Deep Silver Volition in 2020, nobody bought it.
