God of Light
Description
God of Light is puzzle game based around reflecting light. The player controls Shiny who has to save his universe from the darkness by restoring light in different locations. Each level starts with Shiny in a dark environment. To win and advance, his ray of light needs to reach the source of light object to have it lit up. Then it can be tapped to move on to the next level. To start, the player has to tap Shiny to wake him up. Then touch and swipe can be used to direct a single ray of light in the nearby environment, lighting up nearby objects. When touch is released, the ray stays in the last position.
Light can be reflected by mirrors, but these need to be discovered first with the initial ray of light. Mirrors reflect the light in a different direction, allowing it to travel further in the environment. There are different types of mirrors: some are static, others can be rotated and some can also be moved along a fixed path. In more advanced levels, complex combinations of mirrors are needed. These later levels also introduce buttons that need to be lit to open gates, often forcing the player to retrace steps and construct a new set of reflections in the same environment through the new option. The main goal is to light up the source of light, but an additional objective is to light up up to three crystals with the pattern as well before finishing the level.
The game consists of three worlds with 75 levels in total: Celestial Tree, Stone Tree and Azure Tree. Each tree introduces new gameplay elements, such as the ability to split, combine, paint, bend and teleport rays of light with mirrors, prisms, splitters, collectors, filters and black holes.
Help is provided through a firefly in the top right corner. It is used to light up inaccessible parts of the level and it can also display the required pattern. It can only be used a few times however unless the player discovers additional fireflies in levels and lights them up to activate them. Additional fireflies can be bought with in-app purchases. Both iOS and Android have a commercial version. For Android there is also a free version, but there it is almost impossible to progress past the first world (25 levels) without buying additional fireflies as 50 are required to unlock the next tree. The game also asks to optionally watch a sponsored video after completing a level to earn additional fireflies.
