Arcade Poker
Description
Arcade Poker is one of a package of games produced by The Code Zone. Games from this package were used, in various combinations, in around twenty different game compilation packages.
Arcade Poker is a single player, strategy game, a cross between Tetris and Poker, where the object is to achieve a high score. The player is presented with a deck of cards which fall one at a time from the top of a 5 x 5 grid. Using the left / right arrow keys the player can control where in this grid each card lands. The object is to place the cards so that they make up combinations that are valid in poker hands, three of a kind, a straight, a flush etc. The player can see the next card, or cards, to be played and can change the order in which they are presented with the up / down arrow keys. The number of cards in the preview boxes can be altered in the game's configuration screen, the fewer that can be seen the harder the game.
The game is controlled via the arrow keys but the action keys can be redefined and joystick support is also available. It is played in a window which cannot be re-sized, and in this game the background and card faces cannot be altered The game has sound, a high score screen and in-game help screens.
