Back of Box - Game Boy Color

Ride like the Condor on Game Boy Color.

Following the incredible success of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Activision has been expanding its sports line-up with games based on other extreme athletic endeavors. They've also been busy signing contracts with the biggest names in these adrenalin-based sports. Shaun Palmer is on board for Pro Snowboarder, and they inked Kelly Slater to endorse Pro Surfer. For BMX, the choice was undoubtedly a simple one. Who better to grace the cover of Pro BMX than 10-time world vert champion Mat Hoffman?

The Game Boy Color version of Pro BMX is one of the better bike-based sports games on GBC. The game is stocked with hundreds of tricks, including signature moves for each of the eight real-world riders. The trick system is logical, so after a quick trip through Training Mode you should be busting back-to-back flares like DMC.

The organization of Pro BMX is similar to the original Pro Skater. In Career Mode, your goal is to collect Magazine Covers by completing specific objectives. These tasks range from earning high scores to collecting various icons throughout each course. As your Magazine Cover collection grows, you can unlock new levels. A nice variety of street, vert and dirt courses are eventually accessible.

Superstar riders include:

Mat "Condor" Hoffman
Cory Nastazio
Simon Tabron
Dennis "DMC" McCoy
Kevin Robinson
Rick Thorne
Mike "Rooftop" Escamilla
Joe "Butcher" Kowalski

If you can't rock 540s in real life (or even if you can), Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX is a great way to get some riding in even if you're miles from a bike.
