Daedalian Opus
- Daedalian Opus (2006 on MSX)
Description
In this game you play as Daedaleanopus. Your mission is to solve puzzles. These puzzles consist of placing shaped pieces into a space and completely filling the area with all the pieces- sort of like Tetris except you try to fill up all the space on the board. Each puzzle is timed and after every puzzle you get a password so you can continue your game later.

The Good
To say it short: the puzzles. As noted in the description of the game, is the objective to fill a space with the correct set of puzzle-pieces. As the game advances, more puzzle-pieces will become available, and the shape of the space changes. This is more difficult than it sounds, and anyone who played the game will agree that it can get quite tough in the end.
The Bad
The password system is way too easy. Each password exist out of four letters which can spoil the fun a little bit, since you can easily bypass them, and skip some levels.
The music is nothing new. The whole game only has a few tunes, and those aren't very innovative. In fact, it can become quite annoying when you're in the puzzle screen. Same goes for the graphics: all the screens look simplistic.
The Bottom Line
What makes Daedalian Opus so different from other puzzle games? Not much, really. But still, this game has something charming and has some challenging aspects when you try to solve the puzzles in the world of Daedalus. Not as famous as Tetris, but still worth playing if you don't look at the poor sound and graphic quality.
