Seabattle
- Seabattle (1980 on Commodore PET/CBM)
Description
Seabattle is a strategic naval warfare game. The objective in the game is to use a submarine to destroy all enemy ships randomly placed on the game map of 20 by 20 tiles. The player loses if the submarine is destroyed and must be on the look-out for depth charges, sea monsters, and underwater mines. Enemy vessels can also be destroyed by their own mines and the sea monster. Depth charges do damage based on the proximity to the submarine, so it's best not to get too close to the enemy. The sea monster can only be killed with missiles.
The player controls his or her submarine by issuing one of ten commands each turn. Commands are: navigation - by inserting a direction and a magnitude, sonar - to detect the positions of nearby ships, firing torpedoes, firing polaris missiles, changing depth, status report, resupply, sabotage, power conversion, and surrender.
The player must manage various resources such as a limited number of men (which can be sent on sabotaging missions), power, fuel, torpedoes, and missiles (which also require fuel). Some actions can only be done at certain levels such as repairing and resupplying.
