Epic Dungeon

Description

Epic Dungeon is a Rogue variant with a twist. While the gameplay is more or less the same as in most Rogue variants, this one is all played in real time. The mission is to make it through the 50 floor (randomly generated) dungeon in one piece, and to do so the player has to gather equipment, loot as well as experience along the way. The dungeon floors are all hidden in grey clouds, and the player has to walk around to reveal rooms, traps, hidden doors and the ladder down to the next level.

There are four different classes to pick from, all with different skills and statistics. As the player gains more levels skill points can be distributed over the character's attributes, and on top of that there are four attack skills and health regeneration rate skills that can be upgraded, making for different play styles. Aside from finding loot strewn across the dungeon or on the corpses of felled enemies there are also stores where the player can spend gold to buy things like armor, weapons, potions as well as lamp oil. The lamp oil works as kind of a timer, and if it's not refilled on a regular basis everything goes black... and the chance of survival goes down to zero.

In some places in the dungeon the player will encounter a glowing hole in the ground. Entering the hole will trigger a side scrolling bonus game where the player has to jump across platforms and gather gold coins. If the player misses a jump or makes it to the end, they end up on the floor below the one where the hole was discovered. There are also question marks scattered across the dungeon which will trigger a small quest presented as a conversation tree with multiple choices. Depending on what the player does or replies, the quest has different outcomes often resulting in either more experience points or bonuses or getting attacked or losing health.

The game is presented in a style reminiscent of early 16-bit console games with big pixels and bright colors.

The game also features an "Awardment" system, where it's possible to gather a maximum of 250 points for fulfilling different criteria in the game.
