Panzer Elite

The Good
This game added something missing from earlier WW2 tank sims, namely a briefing before explaining your mission and also much higher realism levels of the tank models and gunnery. The AI swings from good (combat moves and unpredictability) to bad (collision detection) but overall the game has great replay value as the AI has is not linked to a simple path.

The Bad
There is a "bug" that makes tanks with sloped armour like the Panther weaker than in real life it appears the game doesn't calculate for those largely sloped armours. Also US 75mm guns can use HyperVelocity ammo, this was NEVER released for use in WW2. I can only assume these two "errors" were used for play balance reasons. ie.. US must be let to win WW2 :)

The Bottom Line
Although outdated this is still the best WW2 tank sim around in early 2005, but i would say play the mods like OstPak, Brit44 and Monty vs Rommel rather than the original game!
