Widelands

Widelands is a freeware, open-source strategy game inspired by the first two entries in the Settlers series. As in these earlier real-time games, the player assumes the role of the leader in a feudal society, overseeing the construction of central buildings, production facilities and connecting roads of a medieval economy. This implementation retains the simpler and straightforward gameplay of the first titles, while updating the graphics and sounds with enhanced assets closer to the modern standards.

The player can start one of the included campaigns, or use the random map generator to play a custom game. There's support for the map formats of Settlers and its sequel, and LAN or online multiplayer. The integrated map editor allows the creation of new scenarios and campaigns.
