Trivia
Controversy
The backgammon service is operated out of Israel. Just like in many European countries, in Israel gambling is a monopoly controlled by a state-run gaming board. In December 2006 the company behind the game received a court order to close all its real money activities to Israeli users, but in May 2007 the Attorney General withdrew the demand, citing that even though backgammon is considered gambling, the company itself does not take part in gambling activity, third parties cannot bet on outcomes, winning amounts are limited, and the company attempts to discourage minors from participating. As such, the service could be continued.
