Description official description

Harley-Davidson: Race to the Rally is a motorcycle racing game that involves racing AI opponents across tracks coast to coast in America. There are 20 motorcycles licensed and designed after real Harley-Davidson's from Softail, Dyna, Touring, Sportster and others. The bikes can be tuned, styled and upgraded in ways which involve over 1000 possibilities according to the developers. The gameplay involves dodging traffic, obstacles and other drivers while gaining points for making jumps, drifting, drafting, kicking opponents off, speed boosting and your position during the race. The game accelerates at a high sense of speed when you drive using speed boost. Head on crashes with debris and such are shown in different angles. The game features licensed music from acts like George Thorogood, Heart, Poison, Great White and others.

Not that much of an improvement, but it's fine.

The Good
The graphics, given the fact that it was a lot more detailed than the previous Harley-Davidson games. Surprisingly, the framerate's a lot more stable compared to "Race Across America", which despite the latter's age, seems to be having framerate spikes on a significantly newer system.

There are a lot more bikes to choose from, and some more unlockable parts for you to tune your ride, like wheels, exhausts, paint schemes, etc. And their inclusion of ragdolls and crashes does give them at least some extra points, although it isn't that refined.

The Bad
My biggest gripe with this is probably the overall cheesiness of the game. Motion blur tends to be ridiculous despite the fact that you're running slower than what the game seems to depict. The GUI's OK, but still I find some of the sequences like that thing that starts before duel races rather ridiculous.

The Bottom Line
If you expect this to be a motorcycle version of Need For Speed, you're out of luck. However, if you're a Harley enthusiast or just someone looking for a cheap way to pass the time besides Vice City, this might be for you, although I do strongly encourage buying something better for a racing game, as this still has a way off from being universally acceptable. At least it's better than Big Rigs.
