SWAT: Global Strike Team
Sierra and Argonaut announce that the upcoming SWAT: Global Strike Team will be released for the Xbox and an unnamed console.
Vivendi Universal has confirmed that SWAT: Global Strike Team, the game formerly known as Kleaners, will indeed be released on the Microsoft Xbox. The company will also bring the game to an unannounced console. Both versions will be released under the company's Sierra label. SWAT: GST is a first-person tactical combat title that, according to Sierra, combines the strategic elements of SWAT 3 with the fast-paced shooting action of arcade games such as Sega's Virtua Cop. In the game, players become a member of the Global Strike Team, which is established in the year 2020 to help countries and organizations around the globe resolve a variety of situations involving the protection and rescue of innocent lives.
"SWAT: GST takes advantage of groundbreaking work for the Xbox already underway by Argonaut," said Adam Fossa, brand manager at Sierra. "Their new SWAT engine has been designed from the ground up to give the game its own distinct look and feel. Some of the stylistic variations developed for the game include hard-edged shadows, allowing for an almost limitless number of lights and shadows in any given scene, and photo-realistic film filter, which gives SWAT its distinctive true-to-life look."
Both console versions of SWAT will be released in fall 2002. Among Argonaut's other projects is the action game Orchid, which was shown as part of the original Xbox demo reel, and two unannounced games that will be released exclusively for Microsoft's console.

The year is 2018 and, as a member of the SWAT Global Strike Team, you command the most advanced equipment and weaponry known to man. Let's have it...
The SWAT: Global Strike Team is an offshoot of the U.S. SWAT organisation. Made up of specially selected SWAT officers and ex-military personnel, the unit's remit is to supplement the income of the US SWAT establishment by taking on private jobs from countries and companies. All of the SWAT GST members have proved themselves in the field. They're adept at protection, hostage rescues and search-and-destroy, and you'll be controlling three of them through a variety of situations in this explosive new FPS from Argonaut and Vivendi Universal Games.
You'll be stepping into the standard issue, steel toed combat boots of Mathias Kincaid, formerly a Delta Force operative, now leader of the SWAT Global Strike Team. The engaging storyline centres around Kincaid and two teammates: a sniper and an expert technical specialist. You'll need to make use of the full team's abilities if you're to succeed in SWAT GST's 21 challenging and diverse missions. Recovering sensitive materials, protecting VIPs, defusing explosives... it's all in a day's work for the SWAT Global Strike team.
The element of surprise is often crucial, so you're best off keeping a low profile much of the time, using the shadows as cover and disabling CCTV cameras and security systems. You can even drill into walls and plant fibre-optic cameras to assess the risk of an area. As well as nifty gadgetry, you'll naturally be packing a fairly awesome arsenal of weapons, including blowguns, throwing stars, shotguns, .50 caliber sniper rifles and more besides.
When you've fulfilled all your mission objectives in single player mode, you and a friend can opt to play co-operatively through 10 multiplayer-only missions, or just blast each other to pieces in Deathmatch mode.
- Cutting edge game engine with PFF (Photo-realistic Film Filter) makes SWAT one of the most visually impressive games to date
- Play through 21 varied and thrilling single player missions, or team up with a friend to play through 10 multiplayer only co-op missions
- Gameplay a mixture of tactical warfare and accessible arcade style combat
- Control your squadmates with an intuitive orders menu or verbally via a USB headset

The SWAT: Global Strike Team was founded in 2018 as an international offshoot of the U.S. SWAT organization. Made up of specially selected SWAT officers and ex-military personnel that have shown the ability to adapt and to overcome any situation they encounter SWAT: GST is a life-saving institution, whose mission is to uphold the laws of its operating country. So, all efforts must be made to use only necessary force. You are Mathias Kincaid, former member of the U.S. Army's elite Delta Force, turned SWAT: GST element leader. The story line focuses on you and your two team mates: Tran, a veteran sniper, and Jackson, expert technical specialist. Your objective is to work with Ono and Garrett through several diverse missions, while maintaining the tactical upper hand over your opponent. Use the environment, the latest gear, the most advanced weaponry, the element of surprise, and anything else you can get your hands on to succeed. The capabilities of your other two team mates are essential to a mission's success, for example you are given the task of eliminating a number of suicide bombers, which requires the use of the sniper to immobilize the suspects and the tech expert to diffuse the bomb. Command Tran and Jackson by issuing orders, using either the D-pad on your controller or the optional headset. This allows your team to move quickly and effectively, making even complex manoeuvres easy to perform. The optional microphone will take advantage of the expansion slot on the Xbox controller. Lead Kincaid and his team from basic training through five chapters (21 missions) linked by a powerful story line. Team-up with a friend and battle through 10 co-op only multiplayer missions. If working together isn't your specialty, choose the Deathmatch option, and fight head-to-head.
