Links: Championship Course - Bighorn
Bighornâs 6,888 yard championship golf course is a stunning achievement by renowned architect Arthur Hills. A true desert course, Hills has incorporated natural rock formations, ravines and a desert wash as strategic components of play. As host course for the PGAâs Skins Game from 1992-94, Bighorn has thrilled both professional and amateurs alike.
The first six holes offer a variety of elevations, winding more than 1,000 feet through the Santa Rosa Mountains before tumbling back down into the desert. Tee boxes carved into natural rock outcroppings, fairways contoured into the mountainous terrain, and greens tucked back into natural coves present a most challenging golf experience. The sixth hole, Bighornâs signature hole, is a 505-yard par 4 providing a breathtaking view of the Coachella Valley. Due to the 100-foot drop from tee to fairway, accuracy rather than distance will prove more effective for positioning the second shot. The latter half of the course returns to a more traditional layout of rolling hills and valleys, water hazards and a couple of long par 5âs with continue to test the golferâs skill.
ACCESS proudly adds Bighorn to its growing list of the worldâs finest golfing venues.
