Abstracta

Description official description

Abstracta is a flash-based, semi-abstract, meditative shooter. The gameplay consists in controlling a blue blob with the mouse, collecting and avoiding different entities dropping from the top of the screen, to score points and avoid losing lives.

The player can collect gems of different colors to make combos, or collect power-ups that alter the game world in different ways, such as transforming the blob and other units on screen into characters from classic arcade games like tetris, pacman or 1942. Some of the power-ups simply alter game speed or the units' movement patterns, or setup certain challenges, like a narrow tunnel that the player must make it through for an extra point reward.

Abstracta has two play modes, 'Campaign Mode' and 'Free Play Mode.' In 'Campaign Mode', the power-ups are unlocked over time, and the player must defeat four boss monsters in order to set a new highscore. In 'Free Play Mode,' which is only available on certain game portals, all power-ups are unlocked from the beginning of the game, so the player can experiment with different combinations of them. No highscores are registered from playing in free play mode.

The gameplay is in a way modular, because the player decides what kind of gameplay he wants by picking up and triggering the desired combination of 'game world'-altering power-ups.
