Warmonger: Operation - Downtown Destruction
Description
Warmonger: Operation - Downtown Destruction is a multiplayer first-person shooter powered by the Unreal Engine 3. Warmonger has been developed to showcase and promote Ageia PhysX cards and is available for free download.
Since Warmonger is a promotional game it only features five maps (plus one tutorial map) and two gameplay modes - Team Deathmatch and Capture and Hold.
Team Deathmatch is indeed just a team-based deathmatch mode while Capture and Hold is a more unique mode similar to the Domination mode found in some games in the Unreal Tournament Series. Two teams compete to capture a number of control points placed around the map. A team member can capture a point by standing on top of it for some time. A team gets points while in control of a control point. Thus in a Capture and Hold match each team is trying to defend the control points they are controlling while trying to capture free control points and those controlled by the other team.
One of the main features of Warmonger - Operation: Downtown Destruction is the possibility to destroy the game's environment. Destructible maps are not new - this game, however, takes the feature further and makes it an essential part of the gameplay. By destroying walls or floors, for example, it is possible to create new paths and shortcuts. On the other hand is is also possible to destroy existing paths. Crossing a bridge and destroying it afterwards, for example, will stop chasing opponents.
