A clunky interface creates a frustrating and boring game.

The Good
Napoleon's invasion of Russia is one of the most famous battles in history. This game lets you play out some of the scenarios of that battle using a very detailed simulation based on board game rules. There is a lot of thought into the game system, and I am sure the board game this game was based on was very fun.

The Bad
This game is very poorly designed. Its very hard to understand what exactly is going on, or what you are supposed to do. The interface is clunky, it is hard to control your units. Each round is broken up into various sub-rounds (like cavalry counter-charge phase) which are hard to understand. The graphics are very ugly, a lot of browns yellows and washed out colors. It uses the entire rule book of a set-piece board game, so the game is very complicated and difficult to learn. There is no tutorial or even smaller beginner scenarios for new players to use. It is not even a campaign, the game consists of a set of scenarios.

The Bottom Line
What Talonsoft did was take a good board game and made a direct translation of that game into a computer game. The result is a very poorly made and overly complicated game that is hard to play and does not hold your attention long.
