Description
Star Trek is a turn-based Star Trek variant for the BBC Micro.
The player controls the Enterprise, as they seek out and destroy all Klingon vessels in the galaxy. The number of Klingon vessels, star bases, and days to complete the mission are randomized at the beginning of each session.
The galaxy consists of a 8 x 8 quadrant map, and each quadrant is divided into 8 x 8 sectors. Quadrants can have stars, which are deadly to navigate through, and star bases which allow refill of energy and torpedoes.
The ship is armed with torpedoes and phasers. The player has a limited number of torpedoes, but these instantly destroy a Klingon vessel. Phasers use the ship's energy, which is also used to supply shields and power hyperspace jumps between quadrants. Long range sensors allow locating Klingons in nearby quadrants. Shield control allows management of ship systems.
