Space Bugger

Space Bugger is a space based shoot-em-up, most easily described as playing two games of Space Invaders at once. You control a gun platform that can only move up and down along a track in the centre of the screen, but looping from top to bottom. On either side of you lurk formations of alien fleets that move independently, and launch missiles towards your position. Parts of your track are defended by ablative shields, which wear away as they are shot by you or your opponents. Your task is to kill all of the enemies on both sides of you, to make way for faster and more dangerous foes on the next level.

On the first level of the game, each formation contains only two rows of enemy. This increases to three on level 2. On level 3, a new un-killable craft appears in the centre of the screen and slowly follows you along the track. Subsequent levels only increase the speed and firing rate of your opponents, as well as the frequency of appearance of bonus aliens that travel across the sides of the screen. After each level is completed, a bonus stage is played where four of the bonus aliens appear and may be shot multiple times for extra points before they eventually depart from the scene.
