Official Description (Ad Blurb)
Rules Of Engagement
BOGEYS, BOGEYS EVERYWHERE!
High above hostile waters your mission is to defend the task force from enemy attack. It's just you against them. And to survive you'll need more than speed and firepower. You'll need guts and instinct.
You'll need to be a TOP GUN pilot!
HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR FIGHTER.
To rev up your afterburners, press the ON/START Switch. Next, choose the number of pilots (either 1 or 2) by pressing the Player Selection Switch. Finally, to engage the enemy, press the ON/START Switch again.
You'll begin the dogfight with 3 of the Navy's sleekest supersonic fighters. To accomplish your mission, you must survive 3 grueling combat zones. Every 90 seconds you'll automatically soar into a new and more dangerous zone, so long as you have a fighter to pilot.
When all 3 of your fighters are lost at sea, the game (if you can call war a game) will end. A fighter is destroyed when its Energy Gauge disappears. Each time you fail to blast an enemy plane, ship or missile, a portion of the gauge will vanish. The gauge also shortens every 16 seconds, no matter how hot of a shot you are.
To defend yourself and your country, zero in on the enemy by lining up your Missile Sight with the approaching enemy. The enemy will flash 3 times in a certain area during his attack. Your best chance of taking him out will be to fire on him the second or third time he flashes.
In the 2 Pilot Mode, play alternates between pilot 1 and pilot 2 every time a fighter is shot down. When one of the pilot loses his last fighter, play is suspended. To resume, press the ON/START Switch.
The Score Meter peaks at 19,990. If you ever get this high, the meter will reset at 0 and then resume counting.
Enemy destruction values are: 10 points for a Scavenger Fighter; 30 points for an Anti-Peacekeeping Battle Cruiser, 100 points for a Death-Tipped Missile.
Note: After changing batteries, press the All Clear Key to clear the screen.
