Three, the first entry in the Psycho Mystery series, is an unusual murder mystery starring an amnesiac murderer. The main character, Hideki Seta, comes to his senses only to be greeted by the sight of his girlfriend, Miki, lying dead in front of him and a knife in his hand. He must ask himself: did he do it, and why? Hideaki suffers from an unusual short-term memory condition in which he can only remember up to three major events; with the player there to guide his memory and to choose which events he can remember, he must piece together the truth of Miki's death. This Japanese-style adventure game is menu-driven; players are able to choose actions from a text-based menu.
The Director's Cut version features updated graphics compared to the original 2003 release.
